Why “Happy Holidays”?
Posted on August 31st, 2010 1 comment
I’m confused…… Everyone presses for freedom, rights, fairness. Well tell me this, why is it that people feel it’s all these things to put down every religious holiday in the months of November and December, and then for Christian’s they say Happy Holiday’s, so as not to offend?Have Christians for some reason lost the right to be offended? All of a sudden you can scream Muslim and Jewish holiday’s but God forbid you say anything nearing Christianity?
Where’s this coming from? My husband just found out at his work today that they are doing the newsletter or some such thing at his work and want to make sure they have all the holiday’s so no one is left out. The Jewish and Muslim holidays are to be stated by name, but the Christian holiday of Christmas is just to be put as Happy Holidays. Even my husband’s Muslim employee doesn’t get it or agree with it since she was the one consulted for the Muslim holiday of Eid – ul – Adha? I believe is how it’s spelled.
So, what do you guys think? Atheists too!!!! Should Anyone ever be offended or ignored? Or does that just apply to Christian’s? Because I can honestly say I’ve had friends in different religions, cultures, beliefs and it never bothered me until I started seeing the extent people seem to be attacking Christian’s over the past few years ( maybe more but I never noticed until the last few, to be honest ).
Let’s not be sarcastic and snotty guys!!! Please give a logical, mature answer, not lame criticisms because you want points for answering a question even if just to say “Go away!” – Yes, I’ve seen that on answers before.
Since some seem to understand the issue and some don’t, let me clarify. I am asking why you can not just say “Happy Holiday’s” instead of individualizing all holidays with the exception of Christmas.
BTW, I know companies that will fire you if you say “Merry Christmas” and many more that will write you up. -
When i am sending an email can i set up a template eg: for jobs i need to attach cv and samples of my work?
Posted on August 31st, 2010 No comments
I need to set up a template in my emails in yahoo. I am applying for graphic design jobs and i have to attach my cv and 3 samples of my work to 1 email. Everytime I apply i have to keep browsing each attachment into the email and then sending it off- this is annoying. Is there a way of setting this up so that i don’t have to keep browsing each individual attachment each time. Also it has to be done in such a way so that the receiver knows that the email has been sent to them first and has not been sent anywhere else prior to them. Hope this makes sense! Thanks.

McCain Featured In Iran-Contra Group’s Newsletter?
Posted on August 31st, 2010 2 comments
A newsletter from 1984 provides more embarrassing evidence of John McCain’s relationship with the U.S. Council on World Freedom, a group that was involved in funding militant anti-communists and espoused some anti-Semitic views.McCain’s face graces the front page of the group’s “World Freedom Report,” published on Dec. 15, 1984, a copy of which was obtained from the research library at the University of Kansas. The front page also features a reprint of an article McCain penned that same month for Reader’s Digest.
McCain served on the advisory board of the Council on World Freedom, which funded and provided arms to what the Associated Press described as “ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America.” The group also “aided rebels trying to overthrow the leftist government of Nicaragua. That landed the group in the middle of the Iran-Contra affair and in legal trouble with the Internal Revenue Service, which revoked the charitable organization’s tax exemption.”
When McCain’s connection to the Council for World Freedom received its first blast of press attention earlier this month, his campaign suggested to the Politico that McCain “disassociated himself” from the group in 1984 “when questions were raised about its activities.”
But the group’s tax filing in 1985, covering the previous year, lists McCain as a member of the council’s advisory board. And in October 1985, a States News Service report placed McCain “at a Washington awards ceremony staged by the council.”
Moreover, in 1986, McCain himself told the Phoenix New Times that his reason for leaving the group merely had to do with a lack of time.
Asked by the AP this year about McCain’s alleged efforts to distance himself from the council in both 1984 and 1986 (when McCain had to ask to have his name removed from the group’s stationary), founder John Singlaub said: “That’s a surprise to me. … I don’t ever remember hearing about his resigning.”
Though the group’s founder also said it was possible that McCain had asked to resign and he hadn’t heard about the “housekeeping” details, the Council’s unearthed newsletter from late 1984 would seem to support Singlaub’s — and not McCain’s — memory of the events.

* How can McCain continue to question the associations of anyone when he has some of the shadiest in the world?
Lyle G – what does that even mean? Do you even know anything about the Contras? They were death squads, led by fascist maniacs. They were fighting a “left-leaning” government. THat does not mean communist or socialist. I n fact they were democratically elected. And do you know how we funded them? By selling weapons to Iran!
So what the hell is wrong with you then? -
A catchy cool business name for photo editing and designs?
Posted on August 31st, 2010 No comments
Sooooo…I’m starting my own business that deals with mainly retouching photos, minor-major retouches, like taking out backgrounds, adding text/other things to images, making personalized calenders and cards for the holidays or bridal showers or other occasions. I also specialize in restoration of old photographs and adding color to black and white. I also design business cards, logos, and newsletters. I’ve been experienced in the program Photoshop for 5 years and am currently in school at the Art Institute so I am learning the other programs like Illustrator (which Im getting pretty good at) but I am not experienced in making websites unless it’s just a banner or buttons. I’m not HTML or CSS experienced yet..but basically anything else in the field of graphic design and photography retouching I can do..and I can do it quite well. So please help me think of a SWEET business name! My name is Amanda Leigh Ragen but I really dont want to use my last name. I was thinking Mandy’s designs but that sounds to original. So whatcha think???
keep them coming ppl
